the voices in my head tell me to buy chainsaws
So I have recently sorted through the bins of 064/066/ms660/heated 066 and redlight 066 parts and am trying to make some sense of which parts go together
I have one 064 that is nice that came in on trade that breaks my fingers, I suspect that it has the wrong coil, but most coils don't have decent markings.

None of this is for sale or trade till I figure out what I actually need for my current builds.

I am curious which coils go with each of these flywheels AND if I have the right general info for each.

1122 400 1203 - 064 with single keyway?
1122 400 1203 - pretty sure it is for the 064 and has two keyways
1122 400 1215 - maybe for the 066 redlight two keyways?
1122 400 1201 A - one keyway, 066? Fixed- seems to be for the 064 thanks gunnusmc03
1122 400 1217P - 1 keyway 660?
1122 400 1209 - 1 keyway 066

Is there an easy way to identify coils?
Is there a universal coil for all of these models (preferably unlimited)?

Many thanks in advance, I spent a long while staring at Mediacat and still am not sure.

1203 single key (064) flywheel for limited coils.

1203 (064) with dual keyways will work with unlimited and limited coils depending on which keyway you select.

1201 (064) flywheel made for the Bosch ignition. It will work with unlimited coils.

This is one of the most confusing and questioned topics in Stihl history. I've been down this road myself. I wish I could point you to the threads where we've ironed this all out in the past. Jacob J is your best source of info. BTW, there are more options than what you'll find in tech bulletins.

They sold the 1203 with single and dual keyways. That's why if you're looking for one that will work with the unlimited coil it needs to be the dual version or it will not work.

Thought the 1204 is for the CDIC limited coils? Guess my understanding was 1203 was for 064 only, whether it was dual or single keyway. I believe there was a 1207 for the artic version that would work in place of the 1201 or 1203
