CS-590 Floods Instantly When I Try to Start it

620 carb has a bigger venturi i believe
590 responds quite well to muffler mod (assuming the carb is working properly)
620 carb would be/could be the next mod to let it breathe even more

My friend just bought a used one (original carb), and he had a lot of trouble. He has found that if he pulls the cord with no choke, it starts with one pull.
I feel like all the suggestions here make sense but am not convinced your saw isn't just running very rich and flooding. The Repair Specialist video is great, but I think you're mixing up your jets. Maybe try to seat both the L and H screw gently, unscrew the L screw 1 1/2 turns, make sure your air filter is clean and your spark arrestor isn't carbon'd up and blocking flow. Might as well check that your plug is sparking, too. Once that's done, pull choke, pull cord until it fires once, push choke in, pull cord and it should fire up at half-throttle, blip throttle after a few seconds and it should idle. Just trying to rule out the simple things first! If your filters, plug, carb, and muffler are looking fine then start working down the list...
 
Was the saw running on the original carb?
If so put it back in and see if it fires right up.
I’ve only worked on a couple of 590s and it was just basic maintenance so I’m certainly no expert on the 590.

It seems that the actual problem with your saw was the oiling system. I’m not familiar with the oiler on your saw but isn’t it a crank driven pump with a couple of hoses pulling from the tank and delivering to the bar? You said the saw started on the 620 carb before you fixed the oiler. Did it start and then die or did it idle and rev as it should?

As far as I know repairing the oiler should be unrelated to your carb issue but you’re telling us that it ran until you fixed the oiler. What exactly did you replace to fix the oiler and is there anything else you did besides repairing the oiler?

If it were me I would put the original carb back on if it was running well before you put the 620 carb in it. If not either buy the correct carb or repair the original.

A 590 is a very reliable and strong running saw in stock form. As some have said it does deliver a bit more power with a muffler mod and proper tuning.

I know nothing about putting a 620 carb on your saw but I do know that you need to be pretty clever to second guess the engineers at Echo. Like someone else said that might work but need to followed by further mods like porting, timing advance, air box mods, etc.

If it were my saw I would forget about opening a can of worms and put this saw back to stock except for the limiter caps and possibly a mild muffler mod. Then enjoy it for what it is.
