Hello. I have a 35-40 year old maple tree that was planted before we purchased our home, but is now lifting my driveway. The tree is 8-feet in circumference at its base and is probably 25-35 ft. tall. The edge of the tree's trunk is only 32-inches from the driveway. We are putting in a new brick-paver driveway and will need to cut some of the roots in order to lay a flat driveway. Will cutting some of the roots kill the tree? It's a beautiful tree and it has provided lots of shade over the last 30 years that we've been here. We would hate to lose it. Thank you for any help you can provide.
