Got a new to me ms260. Found a leaking fuel line so bad it wouldn't start. It now starts runs and idles fine but I'm thinking I should replace the piston. rings seem to be free. Cylinder looks good through the muffler and spark plug hole. Maybe just a very light mark but barely anything. Any thoughts. Thanks

well.... it doesnt look great, but not terrible either. You said it runs/idles fine so....... I say, if you need the saw now then run it as it. If you can do without it and have the time/money/know-how. Then throw new Piston/rings in there. Possibly cylinder too depending on its condition. Not a hard job at all. Be a great time to do a base gasket delete too, if you have enough squish.
and of course muff mod it too...

I would go with Caber rings, Meteor piston... if possible

First off I would pressure and vac test to make sure youbdont have an air leak. I then would absolutely replace the piston snd rings and remove any transfer from the cylinder. I wouldnuse OEM parts too.
