Dolmar PS-421 hard to pull start

My Dolmar is really hard to start. I mean it starts fine if you can hang on to the pull rope handle. I took the pull start off a while back to check if the easy pull spring wasn't broken but it looked fine. Once it's warmed up it's not an issue. It's not hydro locked. Is this common? I mean it's only 40cc. Can't be that bad, right?

Is this a new (to you) saw or a complete change in how it acts?
 
My 420 doesn't do that.

are you just yanking on the cord or are you pulling gently and letting the ez start work?

my 5105 kinda pulls back sometimes; especially if I don't let the ez start do its job.
