hey if somebody could give me some info on where i could find a quality practice axe for use on hardwood that would be great. I was thinking keech, but ive had trouble finding one, so i was looking into a tuatahi or an oxhead, but im worried about them being strong enough for chopping hardwood. any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.

The oxhead has softer steel I think, try a Tui with à chisel grind and roll the edge. You can order it from their webpage

Put a good secondary micro bevel on the edge and it will cut hardwood just fine and resist folding/chipping. Stay away from frozen hemlock though. Tuatahi makes a tough work axe ground for that kind of chopping, assuming you're not looking to compete with it.
