Hello. Not sure if this is the right place for this, but does anyone know a way to find parts for an older chipper? It’s an 18 horsepower DR chipper C18-chp and it worked well for my needs until the large disc that spins really fast and holds the blades somehow loosened and caused the blades to hit the inside of the machine and shear off one of the blades (bolts holding the blade onto the disc sheared and the blade luckily flew off but stayed in the machine). DR sells a replacement disc for $1576 (part # 161490 Plate, Weldment, Drive Side)!!! This is an old machine but probably isn’t worth that to me to fix it. Are there salvage yards or other forums where people with broken chippers sell the parts? Any help, direction, or advice is appreciated.
Thank you

There are no salvage yards. You can repair the disc. Our company is doing 2 of them now. If the bolts are broken off into the disc, weld a nut onto them and then take them out. Make sure that the threads in the disc aren't bad. If so, a machine shop can put inserts into the disc. You might need to balance it after completing the work.

Hope this helps!
