That is an awesome photo - on both accounts!
Do you do any wood carving?
As a boy, I wanted to be like my dad and worked hard at developing woodworking skills including carving. Young men often desire differentiation from their fathers and so I dove into timber framing, barn restoration, furniture building and repairing/restoring grand pianos. With age and experience I realize that all the effort that went into impressing him was folly given that he was always happy with my pursuit of mastery in difficult areas. I missed out on learning from an expert on carving the way he did. Now I have his tools and a rudimentary understanding of carving; and not enough time to make a go the way he did. One day perhaps I’ll have time to make that happen.

Measured the two thickest trunks, both @ 56" around.
Checked the center of the clump - solid as a rock, zero rot.
Marked where I want the cuts.

Wish I could move the house rather than take down this tree. :(

Beautiful trunks. What has to come down has to come down… Get those to a Sawyer though. That size Holly doesn’t come around too often. If I was closer I’d be there with a trailer much to my wife’s chagrin.
