Help me ID

Apparently this guy on eBay doesn't know what this came off of. Do we have any stihl gurus out there that can tell me if this is off an 034 or 036? Thanks for any help in advance!

I'm not a stihl guru, but I did stay at a holiday Inn last night...

ask for the part numbers from it that will give you the series of saws it fits

034 and 036 can use same starter, sometimes only difference was 034 single pawl, 036 two pawl

Here is a picture of the back side, it's kinda dirty I can't make out a serial number though.

If I have the number correct on the pulley, I see 1128 195 0400. I googled that number and that pulley is used on the 034 but not on the 028. Here is a list of the stihl saws that use that pulley.

Stihl 029, 034, 036, 039, 044, 046, MS261, MS271, MS290, MS291, MS310, MS311, MS340, MS341, MS360, MS361, MS362, MS390, MS391, MS440, MS441 and MS460

So the one in my picture is an earlier one?
They look quite a bit different.

The one in your picture is a later one. The 034 initially had a plastic "slim line" starter housing to save weight, but thinning crews were busting them
up, so Stihl designed a thicker, heavier plastic housing. But even those didn't last so the last version was the metal housing as in your picture.

The thicker plastic housing spanned the 034 Super and early 036s. The metal housing was exclusive to 036s but works on the 034s fine.

That one is the only one I ever owned, it was bought never fired and sold never fired, back in 2018 iirc. Pretty sure it was sent right to doc for some porting.
