This is copied from the 'Thread Notifications NOT Working' thread to hopefully help anyone in general who may still be having email notification issues and who hasn't been part of that discussion.

There's been qute a bit of frustration associated with the change in forum format along with some functionality issues that have had folks poking at their preferences and settings trying to get things back to 'normal'. Add to that the email notifications stopping last month and just recently starting again, it was pretty easy to get your settings all f'd up trying to regain some familiar functionality. I sure did and spent way too much time getting things sorted back out..., no thanks to any admin help here. So anyway, here's what you need to do to get email notifictaions working again if yours are still not working since the problem has finally been fixed at the admin level. This is for non-mobile devices using a browser and traditional email.

First, make sure your email preferences are all active in your main account preferences. If they aren't, check the boxes and save the settings. This is where you can control all kinds of other alerts further on down the page, too. But for now we're just concerned with the email options. If you don't already know, you get here by clicking on your little avatar in the upper right corner of a page next to the inbox, alert bell, and search button.

Next we need to check the actual notifiction status of our watched threads. Just click the 'Watched' option on a main page to get there.

You can now do stuff with your watched threads either individually or a whole page at a time. If the threads don't have 'email' next to the check box, you won't be getting notifications for that thread. The box will be empty either way as it is just a selection box for determining whether or not certain actions/options will be applied when activated. It is not a 'current status' or 'on/off' box.

So if you have thirty pages of watched threads and don't see 'email' next to the check boxes, WTF? That's a lot of check boxes to click one at a time.
The old format allowed for selecting all boxes on a page at once but the new format didn't seem to include that feature until I stumbled across it by accident this morning. Not exactly prominently displayed unless you happen to have checked all the boxes manually already or just happen to mouse over it accidentally. As a matter of fact, it's invisible. Pretty convenient, huh? Anyway, it's the ticket for selecting all the threads on a page at once to activate email notifications if they're all inactive otherwise. Just need to do it 30 times for 30 pages, but that certainly beats a couple thousand. Step #1 at the lower right shows the hidden box. When clicked it will activate all the check boxes and they will turn green. Step #2 selects the action to be taken. Step #3 executes the selected action and you're done.
