Hey Gang.....over the last 12 months I've rebuilt a half dozen 141/142's, maybe ten 240's and a handful of 435's. I find the 141/142 platforms the easiest to play with, the 240's kind of a PITA, and the 435's OK. I've cut a lot with 141's and 142's on various size wood, and like the saws for smaller jobs. The one 435 I tried I put an 18 inch bar on, ( I guess that makes it a 440), and it was enjoyable to cut with, and although I didn't try it in wood of any real size, the extra bar length made it easier on my old back. I kind of hate the 240's...IMO one of the worst Husky's ever. What are other peoples thoughts on the baby Huskys? If I run across another 141 I may add it to the stable, but I don't see a big enough weight difference between the 435/440 and the 350/353 to make we want one. As far as the 340 and 345 go, I would just turn them into a 350/353 if one came by.

I have a 141 and 142...they feel like a Wild Thing with anti-vibe, good power for a 16 or 18 inch bar but not the best built by any means. The 350 is in another class, 20" .325/.050...a very nimble saw for the power it makes, like a refined 55 Rancher

I compared a Husqvarna 130, a Poulan built Husky 142 and a Husqvarna 340. The other two saws were close in power and the 340 blew them out of the water. Side note, the 340 and 345 are very close in cutting speed to the 350 and definitely surprise you for being homeowner 40 and 45 cc saw.

With that being said I like the 142 family and their yellow counterparts as parts are cheap and they run well for what they are. Plus if you find the unicorn of that family you could put a 49cc engine in a 36cc chassis and have quite a sleeper.

The 235 and 240 saws can a pain in the ass when they aren't tuned right(usually aren't) they cut ok but there are way better options. The 435/440 are much better neither come close to the others mentioned. If you run across a 543xp cheap snag it up.

My experience using was with the Jonsered version of the 340, had it about a year. Very powerful and fast for 40 cc but it felt like a small tank weight and handing, more like a bulky 50cc. My 50cc 026 felt easier to handle and use to me. I bought a 42 special for my dad and used on some occasions and had to start it for him cause he couldn't pull it fast enough to cold start it. I don't remember it running very well either, dad bought a stihl easy start and was happily on his own with it a few or more years until he fell ending his work days just shy of 90. 141-142 remind me of the 42 special what little I used and handled them. 1 of my neighbors has 1 and parts saw I bought in pieces.

My 435 is my “go to” small saw, and with a sharp chain it will really throw chips. I had a 141 briefly and sold it to a friend for $100.
