Buddy of mine makes and sells tables of any kind, said he'd hook me up anytime. In return, he'd like to get a few logs to mill the lumber from. No problem.
I have a need for a big kitchen table. I have a few dead large red oaks that need to come down for customers, somewhere in the range of 24"-36" diameter trunks. They died as a result of the gypsy moths getting them year after year.
Questions to the crowd are;
Can the logs be used for the lumber for a table considering they died as opposed to being cut live?
What's the drying time needed?
What can be expected as the slabs dry? Do they check and twist, making them useless or will they stay true and relatively flat?
