I thought we had a guide bar salvage discussion? But I'm as bad as an old bitty at using these forums...

Anyhow... I was all excited about this 16" McCulloch sprocket-tip bar for my "super" Mini Mac project...until I mounted it up, it's clearly bent where it mounts to the bar mount and a little separated. Who thinks I can bend this straight? Should I try to drill and spot-weld it back together?

You -might- be able to salvage it, I'd try to find an eBay part, and use that one for a sharpening guide. The sprocket could be further used to repair another bar that has seen excess of hours/improper lubrication,
I don't have enough knowledge with those oldish tiny McC, saws to expect that a broken chain is adequately fed away from the operator, I just find the thought of a flailing chain to be most terrifying.
