Jonsered 670

I just picked up a Jonsered 670 and I think it’s a ‘86.(first number in the serial number is 6) There‘s a crack in the handle behind the throttle lever and I’m wondering if the tank/handle for a recirculating carb model will fit my saw. I was thinking if the only difference is the the return line nipple in the tank if I could plastic weld it closed.

The early 670's were a bigger more powerful top end on the 630. An instant success guys were putting bigger bars and chains on them,working them harder and soon the crankcases started to crack. Jonsered acted quickly with a re-inforced crankcase that held up fine,even warranteed replacement of earlier ones. Your date sounds about then,maybe it is an earlier model with the 630 crankcase?
