I've used a chain and come a long many times to help direct pines I've cut down. I learned about the rope puller by reading this site so I bought one and 200 ft of rope and a sling from tree stuff.

I've been searching the net with my meager google fu, I haven't been able to tell what kind of knot to use to tie the end of my rope to the tree I want to direct. What knot is preferred. Is there a better method to attach? I have a sling to attach the rope puller to the anchor, it came with the kit.

Thanks,

Szumi

I use a running bowline to attach a rope to a tree. Set it with a throwline to get it as high in the tree as possible for good leverage. Chains always scared the crap out of me when used to pull trees over. Bad things happen when they break.

I thank you all. I'm practicing tying that knot. Trying to burn it into my memory.

For backup I bought an app for my phone to remind me how to do it if I forget.
