I’m sure this has been covered before, but where does everyone get log peaveys? And which ones do you like? I need something for rolling 30 inch oak logs.

I still haven't picked one up yet, but I'll probably get this if I do. (Depends if you want a cant or a peavey, they have both, but have a sale on the cants and can get them to 60" length for better leverage.) Wood-Mizer makes a quality USA product. Lot of cheaper ones out there but wouldn't trust them on 30 inch oak. https://woodmizer.com/us/steel-cant-hook

Peavey Manufacturing in Maine- where they were invented. I have a 48", and a 62" for when the shorter one isnt enough. Sometimes even a smaller log needs the bigger one- terrain, length, straightness, limbs and so on all factor in.

I ordered the 60” from here. It seems like a quality product, and really can’t beat the price with $20 off and free shipping. I’d rather have it be too long than too short lol.

Sounds like you got a deal. I needed a replacement handle for my log carrier, and the shipping was twice the cost of the handle. And here on the West coast, any saw shop carries them.

I have this works well . And I can pick whatever I buy at their storefront since it’s local to me . Only problem is I end up buying a whole lot of stuff I wasn’t planning on

I wish I was that lucky… but I would be broke spending my paycheck in this store.

I have the 60" Woodmizer cant hook with the log lift leg. It is strong & somewhat heavy. The extra 12" over a 4' cant book makes a noticeable difference in the leverage. Good tool!

There is a peavey and a cant hook. one has a point and a swinging hook thing the other has some serration at 90 degrees to the handle and a swinging hook. 30 inches is really too large a diameter for either one I have. Depends on how long and how many helpers each with a cant hook. But if they won't bite in...... I would think the swinging hook part would need to be 18" or more, one can put some excessive compression on the spine. Hopefully you have a machine and some chain or strapping to rig to turn that. Or maybe a hard point above. Actually, the metal one Cooks includes in their packages or sells separate works as good as the big wooden one. I got the big wooden one from Tiberking not sure if they still carry them.
