OK, I am thoroughly confused. This is a 36 inch power match bar meant for a Husky. It is 115DL of 3/8 but it has a .404 tip installed so it converts to 107 DL. This chain is 107 DL, I counted it twice. It looks like I could remove like 4 or 5 DL anyone have any advice? Mark seemed to think if anything 107 would be a bit tight lol. I can shorten the chain but I have very limited .404 components here so I would like to get it in one shot.

Well, I ended up removing 3 drive links. Took 2 tries, removed 4 first and it was too short. 104DL just slipped on.
Looks good on there!!! Still need to clean the saw up and look for a better clutch cover and bucking spike.

Looks sweet! I'm sure I have a clutch cover I'll give you. Might be black. It's been a while since I dug through that box. Might be missing the adjuster also. I vaguely remember scavenging the adjuster to put on an SP125. I think there might be a spike on it too. I like West coat spikes on my 125s

Thanks for the offer, but I have covers here, just have to dig through the bins of parts lol. I have piles of parts for these front tank saws. Kind of my favorite Macs actually. I know of like the homemade spike in all its glory, just need to turn it right side up lol.

I bought a "saw" on Feebay last week,it didn't look too awfully bad,but when I got it the other day it was a different story.Seized engine, rusted out muffler, seized choke butterfly on the carb, cob webs left & right ( appropriate for the season I guess).I contacted the seller & told her that about the onl;y thing that was any good was the front handle & the aior filter cover & asked her for a refund & to save her money on return shipping let me dispose of the "saw".I got a 90% refund today & was allowed to keep the "saw".I put penetrating oil in the cylinder & proceeded to strip it down.It did have an SDC37 carb that might be good, but as I went further with the stripping down process I found more & more wrong with the poor "saw".It's possible the reason it became seized was the lo needle on the carb was set at only 1/2 turn out from seating. The hi was set nice & rich at 1 1/2 turns out.It didn't even have an automatic oil pump that I could use. I'll be using as many parts as I can from this saw to put on to my 2-10 that I've been working on for the past 3 1/2 yrs. Here are some pics of the "saw" before I started stripping it down.(Oh yeah, the clutch springs fell apart from rusting).

Sometimes it's the distance between the studs and the drum that really make a difference. The bog homelite has its studs far from the drum so 107dl js just right. When I tried to use a Remington 404 chain on a 10 series McCulloch it was to short.

Hoping you gurus can help me out. I just bought a few NOS parts from a closed down dealer and I'm trying to ID a couple of the Mac parts in the group. There's no number on this big block flywheel cover. It appears to be drilled for a LH starter, but not where it would be for a 125. Maybe Mark or someone here knows right off the top of their head?

Marvin - As far as I know, the only saws that use that brake band are the 10 Series models with the short clutch cover with the brake.

The clutch drums and the brake bands on the Titan models are all smaller.

Mark

Thanks Mark, I’ll keep checking ebay, won’t be running the saw soon.
Maybe “parts” saw with a good brake setup :) Pro 10-10a’s pop up from time to time over here.

jockey - that flywheel cover should fit any of the Super series models from the Super 44/55 onwards but does not have the bump out for the air vane governor. The CP125 would have been left hand start saws and would use it just as is, the 795L and the various cut off saw versions all used the air vane governor. None the less, it would also fit the other saws without the air vane governor and just have a few extra holes. It won't work on the SP 105/125 saws as they had a different configuration for better air flow. It would also fit the Super series kart engines except for the MAC 10.

This is a 1-86 with the air vane governor.

The 1-92, 1-93, and 940 two man saws also utilized a Super series engine design with the "Left Hand" starter arrangement.

The SP cover is deeper and has an internal air horn to direct the cooling air into the housing.

The MAC 10 is just like the D-44.

Thanks for the detailed reply, Mark! You are the man! Other than not having the little bump at the top, I'd say it's almost a dead ringer for the 795L cover, but like you said, no governor. I also have a new 57733 cover for the 1-72, 740 etc. It has the bump.....Thanks for the information. It's priceless!

What type of spark plugs do the more common Macs use? I have a PM 700 that needs one but also wondering about grabbing spares for my 110, 2-10, 7-10 should I need to replace them one day (I usually assume that what is already installed may not be the correct one but was "close enough").
