Hey guys, picked up a new to me super 10-10 Auto. Having some issues figuring out which chain to order for it.
The chain on it now simply has a Mcculloch "M" and an "SM" on every other link.
The bar itself only has "mcculloch" "pn63541" and on the reverse side "8" "35 d9"

The bar measures a total length of just over 18.5" with a working length of 16"

There is 62 drive links

The chain is pretty worn so I'm getting gauges between .045 and .053. Not sure if it is an .050 or an .058

The pitch is also a mystery. Pretty sure its 3/8ths but not sure if its low profile or not

Any help would be appreciated as I cant find any 16" chain with a 3/8ths pitch and 62dl

Yeah the cutters are pretty far back, and the drive links worn. Check the sprocket/rim because you don't want to put a new chain on that either - likely. Depends on how much you want to run it, though.

the Mike Acres site has some info on this saw, assuming it's lebeles as a Super 10-10A, but it depends on if it's a Right or Left recoil/starter

I'm sure someone - probably @ heimannm - will come along and be able to decipher the bar/chain

The sprocket looks pretty good so does the bar, probably wont run it much at all, more of a 2nd backup for the novelty of it being so old. I think 1969 from the serial number

Post pics of the bar. If you have DL on that chain that are measuring greater than .050 then it is possible to be a .058.

Also probably best to verify the sprocket on the saw. Folks will often throw 3/8 chain on a .354 sprocket because not many people remember that some of these came with .354.

How would one go about verifying the chain pitch by the sprocket? Should it be marked?

Yeah, measure the drive links and get a decent number on pitch, and check the sprocket.

I've never seen that bar mount before either - surely someone here has, though

Ya it's a solid nose, I'm assuming it was the orginal chain/bar being McCulloch branded. I will take a peak at the sprocket when I get home

Yeah that is an interesting bar mount. Almost looks like a combo of small husky K095 and McC D176 but clearly it is made by McC. Maybe @heimannm has some info.

Well the verdict is in, dumb luck my local stihl dealer used to sell McCullochs years ago, after it all it is the stock bar and chain 3/8th lp, .050. 62 dt. If anyone is wondering in the future you most likely wont find this online anymore as it is a super oddball. I had one made though 30$ not bad

That chain body sure looks like McCulloch .354 chain, make very sure that it fits your sprocket correctly. .354 chain were normally 61 DL for a 16" bar, 3/8 pitch would be 60 DL and an 18" bar was normally 64 DL. Look on the other side of the chain as well at the drivers, Carlton chain was stamped J1 or J2 for .050 and .058, McCulloch chain was stamped 350 for .354 .050 and 358 for .354 .058.

Since the time I posted that I had never seen a .354 sprocket nose, I have found 2 or 3...

Going into the situation the only thing I was sure of was that the chain on it had 62DL and was a 16" bar, as the link jp233 posted, those chains all claim they are for an 18" bar when this is a 16.
