Finally used, Love the saw.
It is a little strange, power to weight. Really narrow powerband, but for the love of god.
28" Duralite, semi-skip, square ground .. in Silver Maple. Ripping, etc ...

Never really ever considered it has a powerband much different then every other Stihl I have run. Quite a few in fact. Not sure it even matters. From WOT entering a cut to light limbing, when would one even notice, unless it was severe.

BTW, nice looking 500i. The Cannon Superbar looks wicked on it.

Mine seems to have a wide power band. It just gets in there and digs. I have seen dyno tests that confirm this.

I have had mine getting close to being pinched. Other saws would have been pinched, but the 500i pulled its way thru. First time I wasn't sure if I was just imagining something, but the 2nd time was confirmation that 500i is a league ahead of the pack.
