I planted a young red mulberry tree care a few weeks ago in southeastern Massachusetts. This is a heavy clay site on a hillside so I tried to build up the height of the planting site a bit and mixed in about a 1:4 ratio of compost to existing soil to improve drainage. The tree appears to be developing many yellowed leaves with some brown spots (pics below). Not sure if this is fungus, overwatering, underwatering, or just a young tree settling into a new spot at a less than ideal time of year for transplant. We have had lots of rain here this summer and the soil at the planting site regularly feels moist. I thought red mulberry would be a good choice for the site as I understand that they are tough trees that need little care and can tolerate most soil conditions. Any tips for care appreciated.
