Anybody recognise this axe? Trying to id the manufacturer and model, it is a passed down family axe and would really like to know it's history. I can just make out a couple letters (EOGVR) it appears, and what's left of part of a logo that is unreadable but looks like the shapleigh logo possibly. Any info would be much appreciate, thanks

Try posting over at axe restoration thread... lots of knowledge over there...good luck

My 'guess' is it's a Collins, they did phantom bevel heads just like that with a distinct style. Kinda thought it could have been a Kelly true temper, but after staring at it Collins is what came to mind. But then again their were many ax makers that were not known big names producing similar patterns.
