It gets down in the 20's F, that too cold for me now days. Have rode atv's and have ice covering us from being stupid and riding through creeks. Sorry if I made you spit your coffee, that's the worst thing to do. At least it didn't go out your nose.
-6C is still pretty chilly

Sorry for the long post but I have a few top handle questions. I just picked up a 2300 model 358 357 230 it has a scored pistion but the what I can see of the cylinder looks good. Can I get a replacement pistion. The other question I have is I also have what i think is a 2400 model # 358 352 380 they are both 38cc. The cylinder looks the same beside a different muffler. Can I use this motor on the 2300. Thank you

I'm going out on a limb and say yes. I have a few of the 2400 and the 2300 and have swapped engine parts between them. The 2400 cylinder can be used on the 2300 but not the reverse. The 2400 has a little brother or sister and it is a 2100, same but different cylinder and piston. It's been a few years since I was into the little saws so don't hold it against me if some things work and some don't.
I pack a 2400 on my ATV, nice saw.

In your opinion what's the better saw to put back together. The 2300 cylinder didn't look to bad but I couldn't see the exhaust side. If that can be saved I was thinking of putting a little red barn pistion in it and keeping the 2400. Also can you get engine gasket kits for these anywhere

I pulled a micro tank from the bin other day for a guy and shipped it. We got talking and turns out he likes to restore the top handles in the older countervibe and newer micro poulans.
I was like do I have a deal for you. I know 2 of the ones I had been through in years past that had come back in this lot.

But anyhow I packed 5 micros and 1 S25CVA that had front and rear handle av's and shipped to him.
This has been my biggest and heaviest box to date with those 6 little saws and 3 bars and 3 chains. Was 60lbs total.

Plus side I got a whole shelf back now.

Cost more to ship then saws did.

Dont know if buyer is here but he said 3 started with mix. 2 I knew, wonder which on the 3rd.

Ok so bad luck got me today.lol tore the 2300 down and the cylinder is junk. But got looking at a 2000 I have and realized I think all the anti vibe stuff will fit on that saw. So that's what I'll try next.

As some of you know the Air filter for the 4200, 5200, 5400 saws are hard to find and expensive when you find one. It was getting out of hand with me and the dozen plus that i have.
Me being me i went looking for something that would work. I had great success in finding a filler that could be made to work.
I had to get creative and make a mold to fill in a area with epoxy and then recut to fit the saw. I'll try and show you how i did it.PXL_20221204_205122307.jpgPXL_20221204_205147559.jpgPXL_20221204_205208497.jpgPXL_20221204_205233010.jpgPXL_20221204_205309929.jpg

Thought I would post few more pics and a video of my old Poulan still gettin it done. Probably the last real big tree I'm gonna work on this year. The big trees is where the 5200 shines. I made maybe 1/2 dozen more bucking cuts after I turned the camera off, and like a dumb ass, I was cuttin in the dirt. After that, I could barely cut bark. So gave it up for today. Will have to sharpen the chain to cut more. Lotta wood in these old Oaks. Was 24" where I was cutting. Fat end is 30".

That looks like a good solution for a lot of peoples problems.

What is a cant hook

This looks like the one I use, but mine has a new handle I put in it maybe 30 years ago, OK "new" is a relative term!canthook-vs-peavy.jpg
Some time people interchange the terms, but dad spent time cutting pulp wood in northern Minnesota before surviving in Army for WWII so he explained the difference to me!
