Hi I live in a house that is built on elevated ground. The neighbor below my house there is a 15-20 feet drop has a retaining wall. There were Norway Maple trees planted at my yard in a line a few feet from the wall. The trees have been there close to 20 years. Can the root systems damage the wall? Or do they actually help to keep it in place and avoid soil erosion? How can I tell if the roots cause any damage to the wall? The wall is rocks for the most part and has been there also more than 20 years anywhere between 20-50 years. Thank you
