Whats happening brothers and sisters! This is kinda long fair warning. I just feel I need to talk about this Dereal Pro 6220 saw I bought about 3 months ago. First ill say before this year I was totally oblivious to the world of chainsaws and had limited experience with my lost but not forgotten ms181c I bought new a few years back. So I like most are broke all the time but much worse after recently suffering a very bad split and divorce from my love. I haven't had power to my house in almost 2 years but have a generator that I can sometimes have some gas for. One day I stumbled across this voodoo magical thing called a wood gasifier, maybe you've heard of it? Anyway I live in bfe on a couple acres one half that hasn't been touched in at least 30 years so plenty of stuff to cut and burn. Well I needed a good saw that could fell the size of trees I had. No honkers but like 3 over 40in in diameter I haven't touched yet. So I started what I thought would be a hopeless search until I found this 62cc(54.6cc actual) 20in chinese chainsaw for $125 and after some research with nothing but positive remarks from home users to professionals I decided to give it a go. Trust me when I say I was just like all the haters and skeptics on here not expecting much. So my first impressions after unboxing it was huh this feels pretty solid at least like a brick. Next was break-in yes I do a real break-in on my stuff which consists of 1 tank of idle and 1/4 throttle variation heat cycles another tank of as low as you can cutting lastly a tank of no more than 3/4 to 1/2 throttle in the wood. Done with that I was excited to get after it not ever running a saw even close to this. So I literally tuned it crispy and beat the **** out of it till my back was destroyed and I couldn't lift my arms and while looking at it sitting there idle hopping all happy and me broke i thought ok this might actually work out. Fast forward 3 months a 20in echo bar, sthil chain, custom dogs, mild port widening, piston lighting, timing advancement, base gasket delete and a little special 5 part compound applied to the dome to both increase compression further and custom shape the
combustion chamber the way i like and a combo of gas and methanol to boot. This little focker is going strong as ever with no issues like absolutely 0. I've finally bein introduced to the wonderful world of chainsaw lovers after that first day in the thicket I was hooked. Throughout these past few months of being in the wood literally every day I've picked up a few other saws starting with a ms180c basket case now hot saw, a decent 028 wb that needs crank seals, ms250c, homelite little red xl and the latest additions both brand new. A echo cs-3510 and cs-590 Timberwolf. 2 stellar to say the least saws. So with some variety to compare I can't rave enough about this little chinese saw that could and dose work very well. Today another firewood day I took it and the 590 out to the rest of the massive trunk of a osage orange to bury them both in. As im sure most know osage is a super dens wood that can challenge even the best 60cc class saws with a 20 and as always the ching chang held its own against the brand new 590. Here's some pics of the exceptional craftsmanship inside the heart of this little dude. Way nicer then I've even seen stihl churn out. So for all you haters and skeptics out there don't be dogging on what you don't know and haven't given one an unbiased shot in the field. Also to everyone here i thank you for the friendships made sipport during hard days and impeccable knowledge shared. I feel blessed to of found this new hobby/possibly job and the people who share a itchy trigger finger for bucking wood.

Thanks guys

Good to hear that chain saws have been a positive in your troubled times .Just out of curiosity how do you charge your computer and go on line.I live most of the year off grid on solar but the only option for on line is sattelite and that is way to expensive for my tastes.
Any way I hope the New Year brings good things to you.

Hey guy. Are you running your Generator on a Gasifier?
I read During WW2 the Japanese ran cars off gasifiers. I considered running a truck off one then realized If I had a crash hot coals might fall on a man penned in or under a truck.
What brand of Chinese saw are you talking about?
Have a great day.

Very good advice. Also loosen the chain a bit during cold weather. It's been in the 20's here.

Gasafier, When I was in college taking night classes, we were told wood starts giving off gas at 500 degrees F. The gasifier idea has been around a long time. Very interesting idea. If I recall about half the energy as petrol but still a combustion engine can run off it. The required system is kinda like burning propane. But keeping the fire going would wear me out. Good luck.
