I have several oak trees that are coming back strong after a hurricane three years ago. I was wondering if I could cut off the new growth toward the bottom of the trees. I am thinking this grew as a survival tactic after they were stripped bare. I will attach pictures of before the storm, right after, and today. Thank you.

Man those things are fuzzy! I've never seen oaks sucker out like that but of course I am in the northeast, so Florida is a different environment. Does anyone think that a total tree prune is needed soon to keep structure?

Oak 1 I would bring the bottom up, 2 I would leave until they stabilise a bit, 4.1 and 4.2 I personally would bring the bottom up a little but not a lot as they need to grow out
