Hello all,
I am working on my old Stihl 028AV. Intermittent spark issue. I want to replace the points and condenser with an electronic ignition.
I see that you can buy several different little modules like the Rotary 9334.

BUT........ I saw a video where a guy replaced it all with (what he said) was an all-in-one unit. It was a coil that APPARENTLY had the ignition module built into it. So, all he did was cut his wires from the points, screw the new coil/electronic ignition into place, hook up 1 wire from the new coil to the kill switch and he was done.
Is there such a unit? If so, seems easier then mounting a Rotary unit.
If anyone has a part number that would help!
Jeff

First thread on a search ‘Stihl 028 coil’ states that an 029 coil works just fine...0000 400 1300.
I know this is an old thread but wanted to add for when the next guy needs it. I replaced with that part number (hotshot provided above) in my 028wb, using those videos mentioned online. I bought from Little Red Barn online, and it worked like a charm. https://www.lilredbarn.net/product-p/0000-400-1300.htm
