Parts interchange Stihl 017 (MS170?)

I have 2 running 017 saws that have 2 different carbs which I have figured out. However, when doing a cylinder swap I realized there are 2 different coil mounting locations, and this seems to carry over to flywheels. If I install the 'wrong' flywheel the saw will barely run so I assume it's a timing issue. Can a Stihl expert set me straight ? I don't think I have MS170 pieces but it's a possibility.......

The real early 017s had a different ignition. Let me look for a bulletin.
