That`s the old reed valve torque all us Pioneer guys know and loved, still great saws for a days work here and there but I couldn`t torture them for full out production cuts.
Agreed. This ones had a pretty comfy life I think. Been sitting on shelves for most of it life probably. Both of these old dogs will go back up for a well deserved rest for the next while. Don’t have much use for a big saw like the P60 ,except when I want more power than I think I’ll need to get the bigger trees down on the ground.

A lot of my cutting has been contract cuts on things like high tension power line clearing, roadway cuts, pulp and log harvesting but many dangerous or nuisance trees thrown in for good measure. It`s very seldom that I cut a tree off my own properties unless its quite necessary.

Guys can complain about the weight of the old saws but the Hc and Ra were really light compared to the earlier saws and much faster than than saws like my Pioneer Da.I thank the good lord I was there at five years old when my Dad bought the used Ra it was his first chain saw and saved me from a career playing the Swedish violin.

Last time l used a large cube saw was 3 yrs ago here on my property to buck up a Huge silver maple that l had a professional arborist take down for me.
The P60 and PP52 got the Job down with ease. My 6 cubes really do not get used anymore and are retired to shelf. My favorite go to 5 cube which is not a shelf queen and always reliable is PP52.

Here are some pics genuine iel sales

That is the way l have only install the fuel clamp . ln the pics here you can see the oem clamp can be install using the oem # fuel line and also the stens branded fuel line, Note the aftermarket fuel line has thinner id wall dimension but it works.
l can,t imagine the production employees installing this fuel clamp all day long this way. Must of had some strong fingers.

These sales info are from a iel sales manual, you do not often see much info showing the J-series saw. Made of a light cardboard type of paper and beautiful colours, printed in Canada

I never heard of a Swedish violin but had to know. Tuning would have been a PITA as my daughter played in a chamber group and the instructor constantly had to go around and retune their regular 4 stringers.

I think he meant cutting with a bucksaw, but that is a cool instrument.

Swedish violin was the name given to the buck saw that the old time cutters in the bush camps of north western Ontario used.
just like the rail roaders call a shovel a banjo. The term banjo I believe came from the track laying gangs in the southern USA they sang in unision as they worked really some thing to see.
