Mine isn't as nice but it's all there plus the optional right-side handle. Got an early Universal as well. I'd really love to find an IEL AB. Wrong thread, I know, but they are close cousins.

Started using the primer but wouldn’t stay running. Could be dirty carb, fuel lines, filter, etc

That looks in pretty good condition, you should clean it up and get it running.
New project on the bench, it has taken a couple years to accumulate everything. Just 
piecing it together to make sure I have everything I need.

I've been working on saws for couple of decades and have rebuilt numerous carbs but I'm stumped on this. Can someone give me a hint on the best way to get the carb off a skil 1661 (PM 177)? Almost looks like I would need to remove rear handle.

undo the insulator block from the cylinder and remove it with the carb, should work I think.
Exciting day... I got a box of parts today for my 270, including an NOS muffler assembly, which I have been trying to track down for years.
I have a dumb question...I got a NOS muffler gasket, it is very clearly concave one side, and bulged out convex on the other side. Before I install it, does it go on a specific way??? I've read bulged/convex side toward muffler.

Probably that way from punching out the gasket. They look equally flat on both sides with some run time so I doubt it matters which direction it installs. If in doubt, then put the convex side against whichever surface is narrowest.

I'm thinking of selling my SkilSaw 1631, same as PM model 340. I'm with Jerry, I don't feel like pulling it apart to get to the carb. When I put it on the shelf it ran great. It's been sitting 5-6 years. I pulled it off the shelf and primed the carb and it fires up instantly. Did that 3-4 times and it fired each time. Put some mix in the tank and primed 3-4 more times. Doesn't look like it wants to draw from the tank now. I'll try priming and maybe it will start drawing from the tank. But, it is a 69CC saw with no decomp, and I'm getting old. I'd like to get $150 plus shipping if anyone is interested, Joe.

First start after rebuild. PM270 Canadien, new bearings, seals, carb kit. once I remembered to adjust the H&L on the carb it fired right up.

I was trying to get the colour as close to the original 270 adds. Working on these is interesting in finding the changes in parts over the years. I have 3 - 270’s and one Skil 1670, one 270 has to go.
