Question for the engine builders

I have some light scoring on this 064 I just got. I removed the jug tonight and the cylinder looks good, extremely light transfer I can’t feel it, I will polish it it and it will be fine. The piston has some scoring. The rings are free, can barely feel a line in the middle. I’ve cleaned these up before and the last one was worse than this, not bad enough to replace. Just curious.

Personally, as long as the cylinder cleans up good, I would put a new OEM Stihl piston in or at least a Meteor piston kit. They are a close second and much cheaper. Maybe keep and try to clean up the original and keep as a spare.

Piston looks very worn to me. Unless you're on a tight budget, I'd replace it.

New piston is ordered. Cylinder is in excellent shape. Gave it a polish while in the parts washer. Got some info showing now

Great saws, I run my 064 more often than my 066`s, power is as good with bars under 36" , they are worth a new OEM piston in my opinion.
