Help, we have about 40 scotch pines that have a pattern of holes in the bark under each branch development; these holes are the size of a bb and only go as deep as the bark. on the base of the trees where this starts, the holes seem to have split as though as the girth of the tree expanded , so did the hole. area foresters have told us ther might be bark beetles and that the trees should be destroyed. can anyone give me more insight on this problem i don't want to cut down these trees if the is a possible treatment. also will our other evergreens be suseptible to the problem
