I have climbed up spars with gaffs and limbed them, but have yet to do a removal.

I had a few questions I'm hoping someone can help with:

-If I climb high enough and take out the top, would I still need to negative rig? The top of this leyland tapers pretty thin the last 20'

-Logic tells me that if I don't climb high enough, and then I cut a piece equal length (or longer) than my height off the ground, that it could hit the ground and bounce back and hit me?

-When would a wedge or pull rope be used, when cutting the top ?

-What are some big "no nos" to never do when doing spar work ? (I'm always attached via my lanyard and MRS).

Thank you.
