Splitter head mod?

Just picked up a 25T Yard Machines splitter (well used) with a splitter head similar to the photo. After running it a bit I noticed the blunt edge tearing into the end of the rounds. I was lifting up slightly to clear it. Was thinking about grinding a bevel on it Any issues with that?

Also, anything else to look out for on this machine?

I personally think is be reworking that whole wedge, but sharpening the wedge edge, and getting a good angle in the guide plate would be a good place to start.
