And I’m just wanting to run a 18” bar with a stihl rapid super that’s what I’ve got on it right now just want more power
These wer e roughed in pictures comparing the in process ported 026 and ms260 cylinders. I won't go that wide on the the ower transfers on the next one I port that's on the bench next. I changed the lower transfers since photo and opened them almost right to the base, also proceed with caution on the intake, I would roughen it but not town hogging it out. What also doesn't show up and because I added them after, was fingers on the floor of the intake. Those I noticed gains but I didn't write down the timing number when it cracks open. If your exhaust cracks around the same numbers the average person is getting I wouldn't raise the roof just yet, same as opening muffler as much as I did, I should have opened it 50% of what I had and tried it which I didn't but next 026 I will be. In my case running both stock and ones 026 side by side with same bars and chains I found the stock has better low in grunt but the ported makes up its difference and pulls in mid to high rpm. These saws are rev happy saws out of the box so taking that into consideration. Buddy has a ported one he did also our numbers are identical just by fluke but he did booster ports and they pull very similar. This is the first 026/ms260 and this cc class saw I've ported. This things snappy and I run a 24 inch with 3/8 full comp & chisel chain just have to know it has limitations. I burry this bar in soft wood but have to know it's limitations. 18inch bar and 325 chain it just eats like I do at the dessert bar

That looks good and that’s what I’m looking for with a 18” bar and I’ve got .325 pitch I’ll post some pictures of my muffler when I get home I opened mine up as big as yours at first and it was a little much for stock so i tacked a thin piece of steel and left the spark arrestor out ive got a picture of it before I tacked the plate I also opened up the side that mounts to the cylinder to try and match the gasket

Oh ya also port match exhaust. Leave transfers with texture don't polish them same as intake roughen it up and don't polish as well
Exhaust clean it up good as in polish or sand nice and smooth. Doesn't need to be a mirror finish but this debatable who you talk to lol. I use mine with the 24 for felling bucking limbing to around 20 inch then i grab a bigger saw, have a husky 162se on the bench right now when I get some free time again to stsrt porting it. Also this is very questionable, I got away with it but I use motoseal instead of a base gasket as well, but I sanded some of my squish band since I don't have a lathe and I'm still at 0.017 squish with motoseal so it's a little snug

So what are you using for bits I’ve been using a tungsten bit and two grinding stones as shown in picture, I’ve got a saw buddy of mine that has a whole mess of saws he’s saving me a husky 266,262 both xp models I can’t wait to get good at porting and mess with them after watching Tinmans and iorn horses builds for buckin billy

The hottest I’ve done is with cutting the band flat and using a Husky 246 piston. Fed by 044 carb and boot.

Can I bluetooth your cylinder and piston on my saw lol looks nice!

If you ever seen what Harvy and tinman use for the double helix carbide cutters that's same thing the China ones but I buy the long shank ones and cut them down to a bit, along with diamond stones from princessauto to rough in the chamfer then go over it by hand with 300 and then 600 grit sand paper. Maybe easier ways for cleaning the chamfer, it's just what i do though

Thanks so what would be a good squish number for base gasket delete? I was thinks somewhere around .018-.020

Your idea is good. I'm at 17 thou and so far no issues just on the tight side. Have to factor in stretching of the connecting rod as it gets hot, base gasket maybe your best friend unless you have a way to cut the squish band. Moto seal or those types of sealants are around 3ish thou take or give for a rule of thumb

I’ve got access to a lathe but I don’t know if I’ll use it just yet or not. Maybe u should just use a base gasket and sand down the cylinder base some?

Here's some food for thought. This little guy is at 92/116/74, with 16.5 thou squish(base delete and sanded band.) No muffler mod, just an early 3 hole cover, opening it up was not something it liked. Upper transfers are completely untouched. Lowers are blended back to the base of the cylinder.

I have stopped running .325 on this saw completely, I may see about getting an 8 pin for it, but otherwise it just doesn't load it down and the 3/8 is faster by a good margin.

I pulled it down for a look see a couple months back. This has been my main go to truck/quad/firewood saw for a few years now. I forgot how not pretty some of the work in the cylinder was....

Welcome to the party, wondered when you would stumble on this 👊😂

So, how about the thread title? Is that 026 running properly now?
Yes and no I still have to get a new carburetor for it but I used the one off my 024 and it runs and as for the porting and all I’ve finished up everything’s back together just need to get a carburetor for it tomorrow thanks to everyone that’s helped me on this site!
