No, the seals are under the clutch/oil pump and fly wheel.
For the long run I would get a new piston and Cabers and delete the base gasket.
You’ll probably need to put a kit in the carb also and possible clutch springs if the chain wants to turn at idle. Don’t forget to check the intake boot also if the AV’s are bad. Check impulse line for hardness/cracks. Like previously mentioned, an air filter. The damage on the intake side of the piston is from debris ingestion getting through the filter.

Good little saws, been around for awhile and a GREAT project!!!!

Good Luck and have FUN!!!!

I would do a pressure and vac test before I took saw apart
I don't know what a VAC test is, but a compression test was done and it was between 95 and 100.

All parts have been ordered... will post additional update once everything is installed and I get her running.

Thanks for all the help!

Go to the beg for manuals thread and ask for the shop manual and illustrated parts manual.
If yours is an early saw with points ignition you can get an electronic ignition coil for an 026, it is a direct bolt in. Just did it with an 028 last week.
