Stihl 029 (and other?) Piston ring clamping strap/compressor

Hey everyone

Got myself a Stihl 029, needing to fit new piston rings and piston etc.

Struggling a little, it needs a clamping strap, Clamping strap stihl nr. 1127 893 2600, but I don't have that.

Anyone got a good "DIY" tool for this?

ah, doing some research on the site here, using zip-tie or gently pushing the rings with a small screwdriver.

Guess I will give it a go, still open to clever ideas though!

Yeah I actually have that set, but these won't fit into the 029 cylinder. But thanks for the reply!

They did not make the 029 cylinder as the 025, that compress the rings by itself, in the buttom of the cylinder.

Anyhow, I just used the "screwdriver" method, worked perfectly fine.

With clam shells, just compress and feed them in by hand, those plastic ring compressors are great for pro saws, but won’t work on clammy’s.
