Hey guys,

Well I measured the piston and it is 48mm. The muffler is hinged with only 2 lower bolts and a cheese greater front as well. However I did not check the top of the cylinder, I will do that tomorrow.

So with everyone's help I think we have established that it I have a 034 Super. Now I am very happy. But I will get images tomorrow.

Justin
Nice Justin, I recently completed a full rebuild on one. They are a lovely saw!

Hi Guys,

As promised photos of the 034 Super.

It has the cheese grater exhaust, 48mm piston but it has a Zama carby. I close friend of mine has another 034 Super but his has a Tilloston carby.
I have a IPL for the 034 and it lists, 3 different carby's for the 034, but shouldn't all the Supers have the same carby ? Why would my 034 Super have a Zama and my mates a Tilloston ?

Cheers

Justin

That’s a super. You need and airfilter.

Different years came with different carbs, I think that’s it. I’ve had Original 034S that came both ways. Nothing wrong with the Zama’s, those are non EPA ones and generally good carbs with bigger jetting. Zama came form Japan or China back then.

Not sure who pryed your muffler up like that.

I’ve never seen a Mahle 034S jug on any production saw. I do have an NOS one in a box.

It has 036 ports with a short second exhaust fin. I believe it to be a transition jug before the 036 and never used on a production saw.

By “036 ports” I mean an arched exhaust roof and a teardrop intake which is like the 036 and nothing like the KS 034S jug.

Attached is a photo from my mate 034 Super. His cylinder looks darker.

It's not the best photo taken but it's the only image I have.
