Hi guys.
I am new on this sight but i v being doing saw repairs for years.
i have 6 Contras and few 070,090.
i got a Contra S this weekend and it has 6 shew clutch 66mm cylinder and something weird i newer so before. It has two chain tensioners. One it the regular spot and one on top of the case also has some kind of extra brake with the brake pad around sprocket. Attaching pictures. Anyone know what its for? Its look like the saw was not modified and came like this from factory.

Also the case looks extended where the extra brake is. I snap a picture of a regular 000 case and this Contra s case. It looks like factory made. I don’t even know if i can put a chain on because this extra brake is on the way.

Hi. Thanks. Thats what I figured out because the sprocket doesn’t have any grooves from chain and sprocket cover has some kind of belt made groove inside. But did stihl made special Contras with attachments???

Ive heard of trencher attachments for a stihl made in Australia.

Wow. Interesting. I tried yesterday to put the chain on and it was unsuccessful. It is to tick and not enough space. Still could not figure out how the second brake works? And how do they put belt on if its no space to insert it.

The second adjustment is/was for a tension pulley, they probably put the belt and clutch on at the same time.
Just like you would if you chain is one link short.

The saw came from rural California. Does any one of you guys out there have something like it? Maybe any body has Contra with attachment so you can post some pictures what it is and how it works? Any one? Also some weird thing is that all of my Contras and 090 has serial number at the regular spot , I even have one very early contra with serial number like 87,000 and it has a green plate and second number duplicated on top of the case. This Contra has missing plate and on top of the case no number and looks like it was never there, like factory cast, no manipulations. Nobody filed it off. Very strange.
