I bought a used MS-391 with a 20" bar with a 3/8" pitch .050 gauge bar & chain.

Is there a suitable 18" bar with a .325" pitch .063 gauge bar & chain. I will change the sprocket to .325 ...

Are there any reasons not to go with a narrower kerf and stick with the bar I have?

This past week I used a 390 that I had upgraded from a burned out 290. For the heck of it, I installed a 25" bar and 3/8" pitch that a tree company had given me, just to see at how well it would handle it. Needless to say, I was rather impressed. It even noodle cut the big ash rounds in half without any complaints. I was using semi-chisel chain.

I currently run a 16" 3/8 setup on my 039. It's not my go to saw, but it will put a smile on your face. I ran a 20" 3/8 on it for years but moved that bar to my 046, where it does the same thing.
