used machine that might have been straight gassed, br800ce, other than cleaning up the cylinder of aluminum is there any thing else that could be messed up on this type of engine? cam lobe?

Are you looking to buy this or is it yours already? It would really have to be broken down to see what damage was suffered. It all depends on how long it was ran.

If the cylinder is salvageable you'll obviously need a piston and rings. I would then check the valve lash. If they're way out visually inspect the cam. If they're only out a little adjust them to spec and run it.
