Tool Use Question, Not firewood/chainsaw related

What would these tools be used for? They must be > 60 years old.

FWIW, the clamps are threaded at the end of the pipe and screw on/off.
About 4 feet in length.

Not important, but just curious.

always called them pipe clamps. as said already used for wood working, for clamping stuff lol
they are nice to have on hand. nice find

They are nothing more than std. sliding jaws, which can be used in any length pipe. Carpenters have built Americas furniture, and tables with these very clamps.........for decades.
 
If it was smoother when newer it could be used for a griddle on a fire.
Perhaps, but I think it may be an irrigation gate.

Pieces once belonged to an engineer many years ago with a ranching connection. I was told that the pipe clamps were thought to be used in some cement/mason work, but I didn't see how that really would be--perhaps, if true, nothing more than clamping a form.
