I hate greasing trailer bearings. But new trailer has really big bearings apparently. The "dust caps" measure 3 1/2" outside diameter. 8 lug axles.

Biggest Bearing Buddy seems to be 2.717" Wondering if that is likely to work.

Sure I could remove the dust cap for a more accurate measurement. Then likely have it fall off later.

Dexter recommends greasing and bearing adjustment/check every12k miles or annually for manual packed hubs (standard duty)

I've never been a fan of grease buddies or the EZ lube hubs.
No way of knowing how much grease you have in the hub.
Too much and you ruin a set of brake shoes. Too little and, well you know.
My perspective is its good to have them apart at specified intervals anyhow. May prevent a problem you otherwise would be dealing with on the side of the road.

Hub ID is 3.1". Hand packed them, took me a few hours. Tires and wheel hubs are extremely heavy. Bearing Buddies have worked fine for me for 25 years.
How did the vintage trailer you bought at the online auction work out?
