I run a perennial greenhouse operation with my dad. We bought a second nursery 7 years ago with 17 greenhouses, and a residence with several large trees in the yard. I’ve been trying to let some of the smaller trees come up as we’ve had a few losses of big trees over the years.

This pecan tree has always been funky. Nothing with what I would call a good fork. I’ve kept the lower branches trimmed so you can walk beneath it without bumping your head.

That lowest limb turns down. I think it needs to come off. I’m not sure about removing the second lowest limb. My concern is that tree will never straighten out if I remove those two limbs. The good news is that it leans away from the house.

I have general plant knowledge, but I figured I’d ask the opinion of a professional arborist before I cut on this. How would you trim this tree?
