Looking for a oiler worm gear puller for the later course thread oiler gears used on the later Partner built saws. Saws like the 540, 5500 and Poulan Pro 325 and maybe others.

The Poulan Pro part number which I assume is the Electrolux number for the puller is 502540102. One place in the UK advertised they had it so I ordered it only to be promptly refunded and told it wasn't actually in stock.

Like I said this is for the course thread oiler gears on the later saws.

Barring finding a puller I would be happy to find a NOS oiler gear part number 503116201. If I had the gear I could maybe get a part machined to match the thread on it.

l have a old unidentifiable worm gear puller here Prefix 505-331315. l cannot find the application for it and the number does not show up in any ipl,s i have.
Got any glues any buddy

Are you sure that number is right? Seems like it might be one digit too many. My Poulan special tool list don't list anything close to that number but the 502 and 505 prefix's look to be for the Partner based saws..

99% sure number is correct. l did also check all prefix 502 and up numbers that l have in ipl's and tool list. and cannot find the 505-331315.
You are correct on the Poulan Pro 325 Saw uses the 502-540102 Gear Puller, which is found/mentioned in the literture.
Here is a pic of these puller.
Next week l will check one more place where there is possibly a new one 502-540102 and let you know .
How did the pics show, if their bad l can resend.

Brian

Thanks Brian, like I said I come up with nothing for that 505 prefix. For what its worth I have the 530031115 puller for the Poulans like the 3000 series and it fits the Partner 5000 etc and I think I used it on the Husky 55 as well.

I measured it the way you did and it measured 17.75mm. The 502540102 should be the same ID just has a different thread pitch.

That also shows the one your looking at will be for a saw with a smaller oiler gear then the ones I listed the 31115 fit. So its probably a small saw.

I also have the 530031136 for the 2900/PP295 type saws and its only 14.5mm

I appreciate you taking the time to look for that puller for me.

So the PP325 uses a different puller than the 5000+? I had understood them to be identical except for the top end...

Yes the PP325 is actually a relabeled Partner 5500. That said by the IPL's some of the late 500 and maybe 5000 used this 5500 style oiler with the course thread gear. The 540 and 543 did for sure.

Good to know, so apparently that puller is NLA? Boo. Have a line on a crunched PP 325 I'd like to get going.

Yes the puller is NLA, otherwise I would have just ordered it. If your thinking of getting a 325 think about parts and where you going to find them. They are getting harder to find.
Have an old Husqvarna 50 bottom end that I was thinking the 325 top would fit on. That way hope to sidestep a lot of that NLA stuff.

Do a search here, this has been discussed and the early 44mm bore 50 had a smaller bolt pattern in the case for the cyl to bolt to. I think the hole in the case was smaller too. They changed that with the 50 Special. So I'm pretty sure the closed port 46mm bore 325 jug will not just bolt on.

It should bolt on to a Husky 50 special, 51 or 55 case.

If you decide not to follow through on the crunched 325 let me know I could always use it for parts at least I could split it and push the oiler gear off and use it to get a puller made.

Edit to attach the 50 service bulletin I forgot I had

Thanks for that service bulletin, 50 cases are black tag #8270687 which would be July 1988? Went down the rabbit hole a bit and apparently there was some thought that the cases changed around mid- 1987 which would seem to indicate that PP325 may fit.

Your on your own there. That bulletin says, This means that no 51 cm3 cylinders should be mounted on saws with lower serial number than 9190006.

Far as I know this means 50 Special and above.
