I have a 50+ year old, 75ft tall ash tree on my property. A few years ago, the yard near the tree was completely torn up and heavy equipment driven all around the tree to repair storm sewer problem and erosion. Immediately afterwards, it became infected with ash bore and was dead within a couple of seasons.
My question is this: Is a stressed tree more susceptible to this type of damage than a healthy tree?
This tree appeared to be completely healthy before the work was done. Was this just a coincidence or could the decline and death of the tree be related.
Thank you for any guidance!
