Weird white stuff!

Anyone seen this? It’s on American Beech slabs that weren’t stickered immediately after cutting. Had to use an axe and wedge to get some slabs apart!! It’s a spongy “glue” An ID would be awesome

It's a wood decaying fungi, for sure.

The white is mycelium.
Thank you!! I looked it up after you told me what it was because I was curious about its characteristics. Apparently, it’s being used to make fake leather, furniture, and other goods. It is a really interesting substance with excellent adhesion qualities. It is also very tough and takes a lot to cut it away from the wood. Awesome science lesson!

I buy mycelium to place between rounds of wood stacked like a totem pole to grow edible mushrooms.

Wow! Makes sense because it seems to like crevices. Must be just the right environment. I’d send you some of mine if you want- no charge. Is it enough there or does it need to be harvested in a specific way?
