I was given one and soon found out the piston was too far gone so converted it to 272 and it runs great. It was worth trying as I had nothing to lose.

I have a very nice 61 white top that had a warped cylinder when I got it. The piston was scored when I got it and a replacement did the same thing with the same pattern. I measured the bore and it was out of round.

I took an option that I haven't read yet in this thread. Put a used OEM 266 cylinder on it. I bought a used cylinder and carb for the saw and a new Meteor piston. That setup was easier to find than a 272 cylinder and it fit under the top cover no problem. That saw is now in my firewood arsenal and is a top performer.

Bob95065 you gotta love a 266.I am a bit confused you say you bought a used piston and carb then you bought a new METEOR piston .Which piston did you install in the saw?
I meant a used cylinder and carb. I fixed it.

I used that saw to cut up some oak firewood yesterday. Great saw
