Yesterday was a great day! They don’t happen as often as I would like with full time employment + 3 young boys, but I was able to spend 5 hours at the mill with my best friend (and cutting partner). He ran the mill most of the day while I cleaned up around the shelter, added a few shelves, updated my “mill diary” and finished off with one small fir log that yielded 6pcs of 5/8x5x8 for our deck skirting + a couple odd sizes. We are still learning as we go but are enjoying every second of it. I don’t regret my purchase at all, even with the limited time I have at the moment. Mill currently has 45 hours with no “big issue” other than currently not cutting “square”.. slightly off on certain faces about 1/16th of an inch. We are not too concerned for us but would like to fix this before committing to sell lumber to actual customers.
