With our new wood stove insert we are burning around the clock. What do you guys recommend to remove the hot ashes so I can keep vents open and fire going?

Retail stores sell ash vacuums strictly for this purpose, I was wondering if anyone ever used one.

I would recommend using a shovel and ash bucket for the hot stuff. I use a small shop vac to catch the ash the flies up into the air as I'm cleaning out the stove, but other than that you won't be happy with the ash vacuum. The ash plugs the filter fast, even on the vacuums designed for the wood ash.
