I have a 266SE w/ the larger carb and a 372xp non x torq.. both are good work saws and I want to have one of them ported/base delete/muff mod etc (can't afford to do both right now).

Any reasons as to why one would be a better performer than the other w/ a 20-24" bar in PA/MD hardwoods?

I mainly drop trees around the farm, and cut up firewood (cherry, maple, oak, elm, locust, hedgeapple, some pines).. I don't want a shelf queen but rather a good grunt work saw.

A lot more power potential in a 372, but before you send it off and spend the money on a high end port job, check out the "Spike60 Special" mod on one of weimedogs' videos. There is a significant gain that can be had by anyone with a dremel and a couple of hours.
